IS LEADERSHIP ROCKET SCIENCE?
- Selective in our leadership candidates
- Nietzsche’s super-man strikes off Christian ‘herd morality’
- PERSONALLY PRECIOUS
TO OUR SHEPHERD
- David defended flock from lion and bear
- God’s style is gently leading
- Jesus ‘good’ shepherd – calls us by name, cares for us
CONTENTED WITH THE PROVIDER OF OUR NEEDS
- I have all that I need – tender pasture, waters of resting places
- God’s not sparing His own Son assures He graciously gives us all
things
- Makes me lie down: is God the root of our contentment?
- Restores / resets our soul, unlike Martha – worried and upset
PRODDING US IN RIGHT PATHS
- FOR HIS RENOWN
- Corrects us to bring honour to His name / renown
- Disobedience is akin to profaning God’s name
- A little pressure on the hoof so we make our Master look good
OUR PRESENT PROTECTOR IN DARK TIMES
- Worldview has to answer big questions – origin, meaning,
morality, destiny
- God’s presence brings both courage and comfort
- To declare God doesn’t exist presumes I possess infinite knowledge
- Good Shepherd has both desire and authority to lay down His life
for sheep
STOP SUPPOSING
- GK Chesterton: for Christian, joy is central, sorrow is
peripheral – fundamental questions of life have been answered
