FALLOUT OF FLESHLY “FREEDOM”

•    freedom of “ecstasy” comes at a cost
•    freedom from government authority not licence to kill
•    freedom of power from gun’s barrel oppressive

SIN CONDEMNED SO WE’RE NOT

•    forever free of guilty verdict / penalty
•    flesh mindset: death, hostile / insubordinate / unacceptable to God
•    flesh wages war against intent to obey God’s law
•    God did what law powerless to do: sent Son, condemned sin, atoned
•    Christ bore our sins so we might live for righteousness

BENEFITS OF LIVING ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT

•    set free from the law (controlling power) of sin and death
•    empowers righteousness
•    enlivens our bodies: resurrection, protection/preservation
•    a sense of being God’s child: more than just offspring - adopted, heirs

OBLIGATIONS OF LIVING ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT

•    put to death the misdeeds of the body (crucify / rid / say no to / abstain from)
•    have minds set on what the Spirit desires
•    don’t get lost by nibbling away but never looking up
