Matt.13:1-9,18-23 June 11 2017 Play AUDIO (32 kbps mp3)

THE RISK OF GOING ‘ALL IN’

•    trusting God for harvest when burying costly inputs
•    what motivates the farmer to get out of bed?
•    risk and hard work of burger joint owner paid off

WHY SOW?

•    obedience: commanded to preach Good News
•    results in a harvest - bearing fruit
•    wonder of witnessing God at work: hundredfold return

WHAT ARE YOU SOWING?

•    watered-down canned gospel OR ‘message about the Kingdom’?
•    John the Baptist, Peter - call for repentance, declare God’s terms
•    personally convey how you’ve been seeing God at work

WHAT’S *YOUR* IMPEDIMENT?

•    seed eaten by birds: absconded, consumed
•    rocky places: anemic, conflicted
•    choked by thorns: anxious, competition
•    path: life hard, feel beaten up - enemy steals initiative
•    shallow soil: cultivate deeper devotional life, read insightful Christian authors
•    worries of deceitful wealth: cut the clutter, beware befriending world / hating God

POINTING OUT SOMEONE VERY SPECIAL

•    parable’s ‘punch line’ - “Get sowing!”
•    want to focus attention on the One who saved us from disaster
