•    bought by the Master for purposes beyond self-interest

2) SHOWING GOD’S POWER

•    Paul’s problems revealed Jesus’ life inside him, sustaining him
•    treasure of God’s power shines through our clay jars
•    champion footballer learned to care for comatose wife with God’s strength

3) HOPE IN RESURRECTION GLORY

•    Paul confident in resurrection when faced deadly hazards
•    momentary troubles achieve weight of eternal glory
•    believers changed to display ever-increasing glory

4) PLEASING AND GLORIFYING OUR RIGHTEOUS GOD

•    conscience motivates many to do the right thing
•    must give account to God, for whose glory we are to do everything
•    justice / righteousness one glorious attribute of God
