FORGETTING HOW TO BE HUMAN

•    need to understand how culture hears
•    cycle from no-TV to TV-dominated to TV-ignored
•    TGIF culture communicates in stories and images, not printed words
•    church afflicted by “versitis”; not about worldview but life-story
•    Jesus used stories to communicate the Kingdom

THE SOWER VERSUS THE OBSTACLES

•    risk in farming and becoming a Christian
•    parable of hopefulness – seed overcomes trampling / heat / choking
•    testings in our lives from devil, falling away, even wealth

UNPACK THE STORY CAREFULLY

•    put lamp on stand not hidden: display Good News
•    creative means needed to get the story out
•    careful what we listen to: need soil with depth, not distraction
•    Jesus underwent trampling / deprivation so we could benefit

CONNECTING AS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

•    instead of “show & tell”, draw out other person’s story
•    follow Jesus, not the one “under construction”
