THE STRONG, THE SMART, AND THE SOCIALLY AWKWARD

guarantees of success
WHAT THE WORLD VAUNTS, GOD SHAMES
● God out to destroy wisdom, frustrate intelligence
● salvation not in Greek philosophers or Jewish
legalistic scribes
● human wisdom limits categories to be accepted as
truth
● message of the cross where God’s power is found
● God calls those who are not wise / influential /
well-born to shame the things that are
WHO CHRIST HAS BECOME FOR US
● have respect / reverence for Christ’s dynamite-power
● Jesus God’s ‘wisdom’ seen in Creation, teaching
● Christ has become our righteousness: Holy Spirit
brings this awareness
● Christ our holiness: e.g. overcoming passionate
lusts, developing control
● Christ our redemption: ransom supplied, debt fully
paid not just cancelled
JUST ALONG FOR THE RIDE
● teen’s attitude selling clothing shows focus is on
following Jesus, not big name or profit
