The Coming Companion

•     Jesus preparing disciples for His departure, better that Counsellor comes (13:1, 21, 33; 14:2ff, 12, 19, 28; 16:5, 7, 16, 28)
•     hospital porters example of someone coming alongside to help and encourage (2Peter 1:21)
•     Holy Spirit available but has personality (1Cor 12:11, 2:10-13, Rom 8:27, 15:30; Ac 5:3f,9, 7:51, Eph 4:30, Heb 10:29, Mt 12:31)

Romp in the Swamp

•     convicts of sin, righteousness, judgment (8)
•     crookedness of killer demanding sex change
•     absolute truth rejected, even among many Christians
•     ‘Values clarification’ resists teaching right / wrong
•     Counsellor convicts of ‘hamartia’ - missing the mark, not trusting Jesus (9; Rom 3:23)
•     righteousness of Jesus, condemnation of Satan (10f; Rom 1:4)
•     reference tools in swamp helped hikers not get lost
